Wood choices
Accoya
Batty Joinery is an official manufacturer of Accoya timber. Accoya is a high technology long life wood. Created via acetylated wood modification, using sustainably grown timber, the Accoya process is non-toxic. It produces a modified wood that matches or exceeds the durability, stability and beauty of the best tropical hardwoods.
Durability, stability and beauty
Accoya wood is used for window frames. It has extremely low thermal conductivity and is more durable and dimensionally stable than the best tropical hardwoods. It can be opaque coated or, for a natural look, transparent coated. Low maintenance adds to its cost and environmental case.
Exterior doors and shutters need to be durable, dimensionally stable, and easy to maintain. Accoya meets that and can be used for simple or complex designs.
It is also used for cladding, siding and façades where appearance, less frequent maintenance, stability, durability and insulation matter, in residential, commercial and industrial structures.
For decking, the page described a material that stays flat and does not warp, split, swell or suffer from fungi, water uptake or rot, and is non-toxic.
